Eggless Quiche Recipe
Quiche is a versatile dish because it can be served at any mealtime be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. It can also be served as an appetizer. The good thing about quiche is that there is no need to learn about piecrusts that are hard to do. Since a lot of people are taking a vegetarian diet it is good to know about vegetarian quiche recipe. It is pretty much the same like the usual quiche. This recipe is only for the vegetarian quiche dough.
The ingredients for the crust of the vegetarian quiche are: a cup of whole wheat pastry flour, half cup of rolled oats, 1/3 cup of unflavored soy milk or water, 1/3 cup of olive oil or sesame oil, 3 tbsp of sesame seeds, ¾ tsp of sea salt, ½ tsp of baking powder and ½ tsp of black pepper (freshly milled).
First step for the vegetarian quiche is to make the crust. Make a layer of oats and sesame seeds on a baking sheet. Toast for 8 minutes. Then add the toasted oats and sesame seeds into the food processor. Mix in the flour, salt, pepper and baking powder. Turn it into finely ground mixture. Next, on a medium bowl mix the soymilk or water and oil. Add the dry ingredients and mix again until it is formed into dough. Better if you will use a wooden spoon for mixing the vegetarian quiche dough. Use a 9-inch or 10-inch tart pan for the dough; but before placing the dough lightly brush the pan with oil. Make it so the dough is evenly spread on the pan. Then refrigerate.
As for the filling of the vegetarian quiche the regular quiche filling can be used and just leave out the meat. There are also some vegan recipes online for those who do not take cheese in their diet.
